Costa Rica 2012

After 2 years of not traveling with my backpack it was time to get back on a plane and find a new place to explore. This time I headed to Central America to meet up with my friend Damien who I met while traveling in Jordan. He was coming all the way from Belgium so we had to make the most of the 2 weeks we had in Costa Rica.

We started the trip out not so great, my bag got left in Denver and wouldn't arrive until the following morning, our SUV wasn't ready for us either and would only be available the the next day.. After a few battles with the car company and the airline we finally got on the road and headed to Arenal, a volcano town. Had a fantastic time there for a couple of nights and headed to the Cloud Forest, Monteverde for one night, we wanted to do some ziplining there as we heard it was amazing, and it did not disappoint. We spent some time on the peninsula and did some swimming in the ocean, had an encounter with some very mean monkeys and met a bunch of Canadians along the way. From Playa Tamarindo we drove straight across the country to Puerto Viejo for a couple nights to enjoy the Caribbean coast and take in some snorkeling and scenery. We ended our 2 week trip in Manuel Antonio where we had the most spectacular view of the sunset every night from our hostel.

We saw lots of wildlife, met a lot of nice people and had one fantastic time. Here's a few photos I took, needless to say I took more than what I'm posting, but these are a few of my favorites.

Mandy is pregnant!

Mandy told me she was pregnant when we were out shopping one day in April - she told me she needed "fat people clothes". And that was her way of telling me that she was expecting a baby. It's amazing when your best friend is having a baby, only one month to go and I will get to meet her little girl. I couldn't be more thrilled for Mandy and Bryan, they will make the most amazing parents, and that little girl will be the most stylish baby around!
Congratulations you two!! I can't wait to meet your baby girl and spoil her like crazy. I also can't wait till I have a new little friend to bring to Disney movies!

Natalie & Alain Tie the Knot

I met Alain and Natalie on a cold winter day last year and knew from then that if they hired me we would have a great time together. We did their engagement photos in the Exchange District in the spring which I had a blast with, it was great getting to know them both.

When it came to the wedding day, in a summer that we had fantastic weather, we seemed to get the only day of rain. We did a few shots prior to the ceremony with Natalie, her bridesmaids and her parents. As the ceremony was to begin, the rain started up and we had to move indoors. Once they were married and ready to do their family and formal photos, the sky made our day, it was cloudy which was fantastic for me, and no rain!
